Hawaiian Swimsuit Designer Behind Dylee&Lylee

Hawaiian Swimsuit Designer Behind Dylee&Lylee

In a recent blog I talked about the wonderful trip I had in Waikiki Beach, Hawaii two months ago. To bask in sun, sea and sand for 7 days while staying at the Ritz Carlton was absolute heaven on earth.

On this trip I had the pleasure of speaking with swimsuit designer, Rhoda Roberts, who has recently launched her new swimsuit collection which is now available. I spoke to Rhoda about her vision for Dylee&Lylee and of course I just had to get a few swimsuits for myself for Waikiki Beach.

For Rhoda, she had always wanted to do something in fashion, but life happened and she became busy raising her son. About two years ago, with an eye for design as well as a talent for knowing what looks good on different body types, the designer decided to initially make sportswear. This interested her because this target market wanted their bodies to look it’s best at all times and Rhoda’s designs allowed them to look and feel good while working out.

After the testing out of a few swimwear design pieces at fitness shows was met with great demand, the addition of a swimwear line was an easy one for Rhoda. You can see from her designs that she intuitively understands how to flatter the human physique. After sourcing many manufactures in different countries, the designer, decided to have her Dylee&Lylee swimsuits made in Brazil. Brazil is the known capital for quality bathing suit manufacturing. Rhoda wants to ensure that the best quality possible for her designs is consistently offered to her customers.

The designs are inspired by her Hawaiian tropical surroundings as well as the old world movie glamour of the 1940’s, 50’s and 60’s. Her biggest influences are Grace Kelly and Audrey Hephburn.

Currently, Rhoda is busy designing swimsuits for 30 contestants in the 2017 Miss Philippines USA Beauty Pageant which is the most prestigious Fil-Am pageant in the US. Rhoda will also be expanding into formal gowns in the future.

Rhoda is looking at dresses to add to her line so that her customers can seamlessly transition from resort wear during the day to evening wear.

Stay tuned for more from this talented designer.
